Usability

Design isn't just about how something looks, but how it works.

Access Testing's usability services are designed to ensure your product meets the needs of your customers and enhances that customer experience. This will mean more business with more satisfied customers.

We test control interfaces including:

  • websites
  • applications
  • mobile devices
  • interactive kiosks.

Usability testing should be carried out at the various stages of the product life-cycle so that any problems can be identified and addressed before they become costly. Usability testing reduces development time, provides tangible directions for development and saves money.

Access Testing has a fully equipped usability lab in Sydney and undertakes mobile testing around Australia.

Usability testing includes:

Test sessions are designed to meet your specific objectives (comparative, validation, design), and stage in life-cycle (concept, design, build). They are conducted by a variety of techniques (interview, observation, survey, focus groups, questionnaires, etc.).

Expert Review

In an Expert Review, a usability expert reviews the product against a set of usability criteria, project objectives, target audience characteristics, needs and common tasks relating to the target audience.

An Expert Review is a quick and cost-effective way of identifying potential usability issues. It can be applied at different stages in the development life-cycle of a product to provide evaluation and timely feedback.

User-based Evaluation

User-based Evaluation subjects a web site, application or other product to the rigours of 'real world' testing using customers from the target audience. A user-based evaluation consists of several one-on-one sessions being undertaken with representatives of the target audience, normally eight per demographic. Each session involves participants completing a series of pre-defined and self-defined tasks on the software system. These will capture the users' important and frequent tasks to evaluate against.

User Needs Analysis

User Needs Analysis is part of the ongoing process of developing a product that will effectively meet the needs of prospective users. It involves uncovering what users expect of a particular product or service and what features they would find useful.

To understand the target audience, their typical tasks and their specific constraints, Access Testing uses a combination of observational techniques, including interviews, surveys, focus groups and card sorting. The results clarify user interface objectives and system requirements that provide a valuable input into the development design process.

Stakeholder Requirements Analysis

A Stakeholder Requirements Analysis gathers a range of business requirements necessary for the success of an initiative or project. Stakeholder Requirements define the acceptance criteria at the start of a project and are a common element in scoping large redevelopment undertakings. It is commonly undertaken by interviews.

Information Architecture Analysis

Information Architecture Analysis is the process of analysing the structure and flow of data within a system. In undertaking IAA, Access Testing ensures that all information is logically presented and that the terminology used to describe the system elements is intuitive and meaningful.
